University of Chicago Laboratory School Benefit

Stephen Daiter Gallery is teaming up with the University of Chicago's Lab School to host an exhibition of student works. The children - with the assistance of kindergarten, second, and third grade teachers - will engage in an excercise to explore this year's school theme, WATER, through the lens of the camera. The resulting photographs, submitted by each of the 83 participating students, will be on display at Stephen Daiter Gallery from May 17th-27th, 2006 with an opening reception on Wednesday, May 17th from 4-7pm. All sales proceeds directly benefit the Lab School.

For this project students have the treat of working with local photographer and Institute of Design alum Joseph Jachna whose evocative, minimalist meditations on the subject of water were exhibited at Daiter Gallery in 2000 and illustrated in the catalogue Or Water Is. A selection of Jachna's prints will be on display again during this special upcoming exhibition. Please join us!
